If Not You, Then Who?

It’s easy, right now, to look around and feel like too much has been lost.
Too many missed opportunities. Too much division. Too many moments where we almost got it right—and didn’t. You can feel it in conversations, in headlines, in that quiet, underlying sigh people carry around like background noise.
And if you’re someone who wants the world to be better, you probably feel it even more.
But here’s the part worth holding onto:
Not everything is gone.
Not even close.
There is still goodness here—steady, present, often overlooked because it’s quieter than the chaos. There are still people who care. People who show up. People who are trying, in big ways and small ones, to build something better than what they were handed.
Including you.
The temptation is to fixate on what’s been spilled—to replay it, analyze it, mourn it, maybe even let it define what’s possible next. But the future isn’t built from what’s already fallen over. It’s built from what’s still standing—and what we choose to pick up.
And there is more in your hands than you think.
Your voice matters. Your effort matters. The way you treat people—especially when it would be easier not to—matters. These aren’t small things. These are the exact threads that weave a different kind of world.
So yes, acknowledge what’s been lost. Feel it. Honor it.
And then—gently, deliberately—turn your attention to what remains. Look for the good.
Because there is still a lot here worth building with.
There is still a lot here worth believing in.
There is still a lot here worth showing up for.
And if enough of us choose to focus not just on what’s broken, but on what’s possible…
We won’t just imagine a better world.
We’ll create one.
